Florida deputies: Woman left 2-month-old baby alone in car

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. (WFLA) – A Tarpon Springs woman was arrested on a charge of child neglect after deputies say she left a 2-month-old baby alone in her vehicle while she went inside two stores.

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Julia Lynn White, 39, on Sunday.

Deputies responded to the parking lot of the Groves at Wesley Chapel shopping center around 4 p.m. on Sunday. They say White left the baby unsupervised inside her locked vehicle and then went into a Ross Department Store and a Dollar Tree store.

Deputies say the vehicle was parked 12 to 15 rows away from the department store and it was not easily visible from the store. The air conditioning was left on in the vehicle, but deputies say the baby was very sweaty when removed from the vehicle.

“The defendant wilfully failed to provide the alleged victim with care, supervision, while she was inside the department store,” said a probable cause affidavit.

Deputies say White admitted that she made a huge mistake. She was arrested on a felony charge of child neglect.

White is employed as a manager at the Sunset Harbor Assisted Living Center in Tarpon Springs, according to the affidavit.
