Salvation Army sends supplies to Kokomo to help tornado victims

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Salvation Army is stepping in to help those in Kokomo affected by tornado and storm damage Wednesday.

Wednesday afternoon a team from Indianapolis packed up supplies and hit the road to help.

Salvation Army leaders said they will be in Kokomo for as long as people need them, and they are planning to send more crews to the area Thursday.

“Some of this team will be there tonight and into tomorrow and then they will have additional backup support that is coming tomorrow,” said Major Beth Petrie of the Salvation Army. “We are there and ready for the long haul of helping to assist in that area.”
