Canal dyed purple for National Recovery Month
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The water at the downtown Indianapolis canal has been dyed purple for a good cause.
September is National Recovery Month to honor those recovering from drug and alcohol addictions.
Twenty three million Americans are living in long-term drug or alcohol recovery, according to Fairbanks, a non-profit treatment center in Indianapolis.
Several people spoke at a special event at the canal Thursday, including Mayor Joe Hogsett, people who are now in recovery and some who have lost family members to a drug overdose.
