Mitch Daniels defends Gary Johnson after flub

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is defending Gary Johnson.

The Libertarian presidential candidate is making headlines after a flub on national TV Thursday.

Johnson asked, “What is Aleppo?” when an interviewer posed a question about the Syrian refugee crisis.

Speaking on MSNBC, Daniels disagreed with critics who say Johnson disqualified himself with the response.

Daniels is pushing for Johnson to be included in the debates with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

The ex-governor and current Purdue University president will host a discussion with Johnson at Purdue on Tuesday.
