Preparations underway for Indianapolis Heart Walk & 5K Run

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -10,000 people are expected to attend the 25th annual Indianapolis Heart Walk & 5K run.

The event will take place at White River State Park Saturday.

The event is expected to raise nearly $1 million for the American Heart Association to help fun research, education and community programs.

Registration for the event starts at 8:00 a.m. Opening ceremonies are expected to kickoff at 9:40 a.m. The walk and run is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

There is a one mile or three mile route for the walk. Registration for the walk is free, but costs $25 for the timed 5K run.

In addition to the walks and run, there will be free health screenings as well as hands-only CPR training.

The first 500 families to complete the training will receive a complimentary CPR kit.

The event will go on rain or shine, but there are plans in place for severe weather. For more information, click here.
