Former President George W. Bush campaigns in Indy on behalf of Todd Young

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Todd Young needs help and George W. Bush is providing the kind of help that only a former president can.

He will help Young raise close to $1 million today.

Bush is not appearing in public, but Young spoke to reporters late this afternoon to discuss what this means for his campaign.

Bush is telling Young supporters about his belief that the GOP must maintain control of the U.S. Senate and how the Indiana race might be a key.

Meanwhile, the Evan Bayh campaign is pointing out that Bayh and Bush were on the same side in support of the auto bail out in 2008 and 2009.

Bayh has been attacking Young in TV ads for his opposition to the bail out.

Young stood by that position today.

Bayh remains the favorite, but polls show it getting closer and both sides will be getting a lot of outside help in the weeks to come.
