Motorcyclist dies in south side crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal crash on the city’s south side.

IMPD said the accident involved a semi and a motorcycle

The fatal accident occurred just after  5:30 p.m.n the 1700 block of West Thompson Road.

After arriving on scene, a 22-year-old male was discovered unresponsive by officers  in the parking lot of the closed Flying J gas station.   The man was pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel.

According to investigators, both the semi and the motorcycle were traveling westbound on Thompson Road near the gas station.  As the two westbound lanes approaching the Flying J merged into one, The semi, which was in the left lane, attempted to turn right in front of the motorcyclist.  The motorcycle was unable to stop and ran into the semi trailer.
