IU football player arrested for child molestation
RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A freshman football player at Indiana University has been arrested for child molestation.
19-year-old Kiante Enis of Saratoga was arrested with two counts of child molesting, a level three felony.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, a report was made regarding a relationship between Enis and a child that is 13 years old or younger.
RCSO said both Enis and the child admitted to at least two encounters that they say were consensual.
IU released a statement saying that Enis was released from the team.
“Indiana Football has dismissed freshman Kiante Enis from the program effective immediately.”
Enis was booked into the Randolph County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
Enis is a wide receiver with IU.
“It’s sad that happens when they wanted him to be here as a part of our team and represent IU as a whole,” Student Madison Cowden said.
“To see something like that happen and such an extreme thing happen to the football team, it’s a tough break, Kiante was supposed to be a really good player,” Student Nicholas Hunt said, “He should have known better, he should have used better judgement on his part.”
