4 top baby monitors

It’s Baby Safety Month and by default, Katy Mann from Indy with Kids has been testing baby monitors and safe sleeping for infants for many years. She’s not a scientist or a doctor, but she’s a mom of five little ones, and she has a lot to say when it comes to keeping an eye on your sleeping babies. Today, Katy is sharing some of the newest monitors on the market and sharing a few safe sleeping tips, courtesy of her friends at Franciscan Health.

4 of the best monitors from Summer Infant

Babble Band Wearable Monitor

  1. The first and only wearable audio monitor available. It’s great for all caregivers, especially those active ones, but it’s also a great option for parents with hearing issues. The wearable band has a vibration feature which vibrates when the baby makes a sound.
  2. $59.99

Liv Cam

  1. This is one of their newest baby camera on the market. It’s a truly portable video camera in that it’s JUST the camera. Perfect for families on-the-go, playdates, family visits, camping, traveling, and more! It does not come with the parent unit, as the  camera syncs up with an app that parents download onto their phone and/or tablet. I would recommend watching their VIDEO to see it in action.
  2. $99.99

Baby Glow Video Monitor & Projection Camera

  1. This IS the newest video monitor available by Summer Infant. It has a new twist on video monitors, as it displays a 3-color night sky projection up onto the baby’s ceiling from the camera. It also plays soothing lullabies in addition to all of the normal/must-have features of a baby video monitor (I.e. Night vision, rechargeable battery, sound lights, etc). Both the starry night sky and lullabies are controlled from the parent unit.
  2. $129.99

Wide View Digital Color Video Monitor

  1. Its the best video monitor on the market! (I personally own and use this one on my 4 year old still) It has all the must-have features a video monitor should have, PLUS it has Wide Lens Technology so it enables parents to see more of the baby’s room/crib. It also has a talk-back feature so parents can talk to their baby in the nursery, as well as the ability to add up to 4 cameras in total and automatically scan between them.

Sleeping tips and tricks

  • Place baby to sleep on his or her back when sleeping.
  • Use a crib that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snugly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.
  • Remove all blankets, comforters and toys from your baby’s sleep area
  • Monitor TIPS (Keeping an eye and ear on sleeping baby is important, but it’s important to ensure parents are using the monitor correctly. NEVER placing it in or near the crib)
  • Consider a wearable blanket to keep baby warm.
