IMPD locates hit-and-run vehicle that struck grandmother, child

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says they have located the hit-and-run vehicle that struck a grandmother, causing a child to be ejected from a stroller on Sept. 21.

Police said the vehicle was located Tuesday afternoon but no suspects are in custody. The vehicle police found is a black 1999 to 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab.

The incident happened in the 4400 block of West Washington just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Both the Wayne Township Fire Department and IMPD responded to the scene.

After arriving on scene, members of WFTD began performing life-saving measures on the infant.

WTFD said the child was in stable condition and had been transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. The grandmother was in good condition.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
