Body found in woods identified as missing Gary man
HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say a body found in a wooded area of Gary is that of a 28-year-old man who had been missing for almost a month.
The Times reports Michael J. Washington of Gary was last seen getting in to a vehicle on Sept. 30.
A tree trimming crew discovered his body Friday morning while working on a dead-end street on Gary’s west side.
The Lake County coroner’s office said Washington had been shot multiple times.
Police had asked for the public’s help in finding Washington after he went missing, saying they had exhausted all leads.
