SELLERSBURG, Ind. (WISH) – House Speaker Paul Ryan campaigned for Republican Trey Hollingsworth in southern Indiana Tuesday.

It’s the clearest sign yet that the race between Hollingsworth and Democrat Shelli Yoder is a close one.

Ryan appeared at a rally in Sellersburg in the latest effort to keep the 9th District Congressional seat in the GOP column.

Polls conducted for Democrat Shelli Yoder show the race tied even though the district is predominantly Republican.

Governor Mike Pence appeared at a rally in the district on Sunday.

“Do you want some rubber stamp?” Ryan asked the crowd. “Someone who wants to go out there and vote for Nancy Pelosi, act like Nancy Pelosi, vote like Nancy Pelosi? No way.”

Yoder has accused Hollingsworth of moving in from out of state and attempting to buy the seat. She responded with a statement saying”Tennessee Trey is bringing in Washington politicians, but Hoosiers know that gridlock in Washington is hurting middle class Hoosier families.”
