INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Angie’s List faces new competition as Amazon Home Services expands to 20 new cities, including Indianapolis. Amazon Home Services connects local service providers to local customers.
Customers can find reviews and book local service providers — like plumbers, electricians and even someone to build furniture or mount a television.
“The availability of Home Services in more cities means that more customers can quickly find and schedule the help they need around the house heading into the holiday season,” said Nish Lathia, general manager of Amazon Home Services.
The expansion means Home Services is now in 50 metro areas across the United States. According to a press release, Amazon now offers more than 1,200 unique services in more than 60 professions.
This will mean increased competition for Indianapolis-based Angie’s List. The company already announced layoffs in early November, after reporting quarterly earnings. In an effort to compete with companies like Amazon and Yelp, Angie’s List dropped its paywall earlier this year.
