Woman found dead, wrapped in carpet in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A woman was found dead in an alley wrapped in carpet padding in the 3300 block of Wayne Trace.

According to Officer John Chambers with Fort Wayne Police Department, someone found the woman on the ground in the alley, between Drexel Avenue and Trentman Avenue around 9:50 a.m. Saturday morning. Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the woman dead at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Chambers said it is not yet known how long the body has been there. The identity of the victim and the cause of death will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Police are canvassing the area, looking for witnesses or someone who may have known the woman.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
