INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Singing Contractors are back with a to follow up their viral hit “How Great Thou Art” from last September.

This weekend their version of “Mary, Did You Know?” has blown up online.

This is a pair of general contractors who one day decided to start singing at job sites and recording the songs on their phone.

They mostly record songs by request and they’re glad they granted a recent one for a popular Christmas song.

The Singing Contractors’ latest viral hit was almost never recorded.

“Through the winter months last Christmas we got requests for it, but we did not do it because we didn’t know it,” Singing Contractor Aaron Gray said.

But Aaron Gray and Josh Arnett liked the message behind “Mary, Did You Know?”

“It’s a popular song, it’s got a good meaning and melody to it,” Arnett said.

They decided to record it in a garage job site last week.

They had to look at their phones for the lyrics.

And they only practiced singing it once before the recording.

“We do hear each other and we’ve sang enough with each other now that we’re comfortable with one another and sometimes we don’t get every part right, but we just have fun with it,” Gray said.

Their last hit has 15 million Facebook views.

With the Christmas season just beginning, they think Mary will be their most watched video yet.

They’ve also had the opportunity to sing at the Indiana State House and the Governor’s mansion at events over the last year.
