Scotty’s Brewhouse changing ownership, expanding internationally

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Scotty’s Brewhouse is changing ownership. The announcement comes after Founder Scott Wise posted on Facebook he sold the chain to a company with big expansion plans.

Wise posted a lengthy Facebook message on Facebook Saturday afternoon announcing the sale.

In the post, he mentions how it was always a dream to find the right seller and remain at the helm at the same time.

Wise said that his vision and team will remain and he will “guide and lead the ship” but that the sale gives the company the resources to grow and expand across the country and even internationally.

Wise told 24-Hour News 8 in October, he was working with a private equity company to expand. He said the deal would mean going from 20 restaurants to about 200 over the next four years, including overseas growth into Japan.

Wise said he wasn’t willing ot sell to anyone. He had specific criteria. He said the right buyer had to agree to keep his team in place, to continue to operate the restautants the same, that the team must continue to do charity work every 90 days and that 10 percent of the workforce be made up of people with disabilities.

The company he sold it to, not only agreed to, but embraced those stipulations.

The first Scotty’s location was opened 20 years ago in Muncie, Indiana.

Although Wise said ownership is changing hands, he said he’s not going anywhere.
