Minion fire hydrant stolen from South Carolina firefighter’s porch

ST. GEORGE, S.C. (WCBD) – A Dorchester County firefighter is looking is looking for a very special possession that was stolen from the front porch of his home.

Drew Schmidt, an engineer with Dorchester County Fire-Rescue, hand-painted a fire hydrant for his daughter Eloise before she was stillborn in 2015.

The fire hydrant was painted to look like a Minion, a character from the “Despicable Me” movies.

Schmidt said he noticed that the 200-pound fire hydrant was stolen from the front porch of his house on Monday when he came home from work. According to an incident report from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, the hydrant was stolen between Nov. 29 and Monday.

The fire hydrant is very sentimental to Schmidt.

“It’s way more than a fire hydrant,” said Schmidt. “It’s a memorial. And we just want it back.”
