Woman gets 16 years in prison for 2016 robbery that led to murder

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 35-year-old Indianapolis woman was sentenced Friday to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery, Marion County prosecutors said.

Jessica Figueiredo was sentenced for the May 31, 2016, robbery of Erbie Thompson in an east side home he shared with his girlfriend in the 6100 block of East 11th Street.

Figueiredo had murder, criminal confinement and firearm charges dismissed as part of a plea deal. She and Jeremiah Walker, 34, were initially implicated in the robbery and murder of Thompson in June 2016. Figueiredo testified against Walker as part of the plea deal. He was convicted of Thompson’s murder and was sentenced to 62 years in prison in November.

“After Thompson was shot, the suspects fled in a vehicle,” said a news release from the prosecutors. “The female victim was able to see the license plate of the vehicle and memorized it to report to the responding officers. That license plate was registered to a vehicle by the same description registered to Jessica Figueiredo. Detectives were able to locate the vehicle with Walker and Figueiredo the day after the murder.”

During the attempted robbery, one of the suspects used zip ties to confine Thompson’s girlfriend. A receipt for the zip ties was found in Figueiredo’s vehicle.

Walker was convicted after a two-day trial in early November. The jury found him guilty of murder, robbery, carrying a handgun without a license, and criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon.
