Markleville woman dies after car hits semi backing up on State Road 38

MARKLEVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A 73-year-old woman has died after state police say her car struck the side of a semi that was backing up across the eastbound lane of State Road 38 near Markleville.

A state trooper saw the semi stopped in the westbound lane as he was traveling around 6:50 p.m. Saturday and then saw that it was backing up across the eastbound lane into a driveway on the south side of the road, Indiana State Police wrote in a release.

Mylinh Humfleet, 73 of Markleville, was driving eastbound in a Ford Fusion and struck the side of the trailer being pulled by the semi. She was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Anderson but succumbed to her injuries.

David Reeves, 36, was driving the semi and was uninjured.
