Yes, your older iPhone is being slowed by Apple
CUPERTINO, Calif. (WIVB) – Apple users have long suspected it, and now they know they’re right.
The company has confirmed it slows the performance of older iPhones to help reduce power demands.
In a statement, the tech company said lithium-ion batteries become less capable of providing peak current demands in cold conditions when they have a low charge, or as they age over time.
That means the device will unexpectedly shut down to protect its electronic components.
