Sex offender arrested after ‘multi-state crime spree’

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE/WLFI) – A convicted sex offender wanted in Allen County, Indiana, on warrants was arrested Tuesday in Oregon after what police described as a “multi-state crime spree.”

Stanley Ray Osborne, 34, was booked in the Klamath County Jail in Oregon on Tuesday on preliminary charges of possession of a stolen car and gun.

The case began last month when the Allen County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help to find Osborne, a three-time convicted sex offender who reportedly failed to register.

The Allen County Sex Offender Registration and Notification Team attempted to serve an arrest warrant out of Boone County to Osborne for a probation violation, but found Osborne had moved without updating his address with authorities.

As it turned out, Osborne moved west.

Authorities said Osborne was a suspect in a burglary and theft in Boone County, Indiana, an armed robbery in Montgomery County, Indiana, an attempted armed robbery in Illinois, an armed robbery in Oklahoma, and an armed robbery in Arizona before he was finally arrested in Oregon this week.

Osborne will be extradited back to Allen County to face his initial charges, but that date has yet to be determined.

The sheriff’s office said media coverage forced Osborne to flee the area.
