Man arrested after crashing truck into tennis courts

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette Police now say a man was arrested after crashing his truck through fences and onto a tennis court at Jefferson High School Monday morning.

Sgt. Scott Galloway said 61-year-old Johnny Burt remains hospitalized for evaluation.

He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

On Monday, police initially indicated Burt was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Police said Burt crashed into fencing surrounding tennis courts at Jefferson High School around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

While no pedestrians were struck by the truck, two teenagers sustained minor injuries after being hit by fence debris.
