Real Talk Kim shares transformation journey and new book
Pastor Kim, also known as “Real Talk Kim,” is not just a pastor but also an accomplished author with her upcoming book, “You Gotta Get Up: Grab Hold of Your Life After Being Knocked Down, Held Back, and Left Out,” which was released in September 2023 through Harper Collins.
In her new book, Pastor Kim shares her remarkable journey of transformation, which began at 36 years old when her marriage of 17 years ended. This tumultuous period left her not only depressed but also financially destitute, eventually leading her and her two sons to move in with her parents. It took several years of self-evaluation, counseling, and an unwavering commitment to her faith for Kim to overcome this challenging phase in her life.
The central theme of Pastor Kim’s book revolves around the concept of renewal, resilience, and happiness. She emphasizes the importance of getting up and moving forward, even when faced with life’s harshest blows. Kim believes that our true calling can be found where we experience joy, abundance, and excitement.
Kim’s message underscores that it’s never too late to change and break free from the chains of negativity. To initiate this transformation, she suggests changing our thinking, choosing joy over sadness, faith over fear, resilience over worry, and healing over distress.
Additionally, Pastor Kim is an advocate partner with the Rock Paper Scissors Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving a voice to abuse survivors, and with God’s House of Hope, a program that provides counseling, motivation, and training for individuals dealing with issues related to drugs, alcohol, or emotional struggles.
Pastor Kim recounted her personal journey and her newfound mission to inspire and help others to Cody Adams. She described the realization that no one would come to rescue her; she had to rescue herself from her misery. Kim stressed the importance of reaching a point where you’re “sick and tired of being sick and tired” and taking action to change your life. She also warned against the negative effects of comparing oneself to others on social media, emphasizing the significance of self-care and protecting one’s mental health.
