Woman dies in 2-car crash on State Road 37 in Noblesville
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A 44-year-old Noblesville woman died Monday morning in a two-car crash on State Road 37, police say.
An ambulance took Nicole R. Townley to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital-Indianapolis with life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. She died a short time later, police say.
Noblesville Police Department responded just after 8:03 a.m. Monday to the crash in the 19700 block of State Road 37. That’s between East 191st Street and Promise Road on the northeast side of the city.
From evidence at the scene and witness statements, investigators believe a 2016 Kia Soul was northbound on State Road 37 when the car crossed into the southbound lane of State Road 37 where the road transitions from a four-lane divided highway into a two-lane highway. The Kia being driven by Townley collided head-on with a 2006 Dodge Charger car that was southbound on State Road 37.
An air ambulance took the driver of the Dodge, Kristine S. Tishner, 39, of Noblesville, to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital-Indianapolis. She had non-life-threatening injuries.
Southbound traffic was diverted onto Promise Road, and northbound traffic onto 191st Street for about three hours during the crash investigation.
Investigators continued to determine the cause of the crash.
