1 dead, 4 injured in mass shooting outside south side club on Madison Avenue
UPDATE: The person killed Sunday’s mass shooting at a club on Madison Avenue has been identified as Samuel Ling, the Marion County Coroner’s Office confirmed.
IMPD said Monday that another person, identified as a 22-year-old male, was injured in Sunday’s mass shooting. The number of people injured in the shooting is now six, with one death and five people injured.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person is dead and four others are injured after a mass shooting outside a club on the south side of Indianapolis early Sunday morning.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says officers were called to the parking lot outside of GZ Club on the 5900 block of Madison Avenue at around 1:20 a.m. Eastern daylight saving time Sunday on a report of a person shot. That was before the time when people pushed back their clocks an hour for daylight saving time.
When officers arrived, they found five people with gunshot wounds.
Police say a male was pronounced dead at the scene. His name and age haven’t been shared yet.
Four other people were transported to local hospitals. IMPD gave a list of the ages and conditions of the other people’s conditions:
- 23-year-old woman – critical condition
- 25-year-old man – critical condition
- 29-year-old man – stable condition
- 25-year-old man – stable condition
According to IMPD, several nearby businesses had gunshots in the buildings. Officers say multiple witnesses remained on the scene and are cooperating with police. IMPD also found several firearms at the scene.
Investigators say detectives learned there was a disturbance inside the GZ Club prior to the shooting. They are working to determine if the disturbance is connected to the shooting.

This shooting comes on the heels of a mass shooting one week earlier where 10 people were shot, one fatally, after party on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
