IMPD: 1 person found dead near east side apartment complex
UPDATE: The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the man who was found dead near an east side apartment complex as 34-year-old Ousman Gasama.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The death of a man found at an east side apartment complex on Thanksgiving Day was a homicide, Indianapolis police said.
At 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a person down at the Abbey Meadows Apartments. That’s an apartment complex on Shortridge Road near 10th Street and Shadeland Avenue.
Police arrived and found a man with trauma injuries “deceased in the courtyard surrounded by multiple apartment buildings,” IMPD Public Information Officer Lt. Shane Foley said.
Officers followed a trail of blood to an apartment south of the buildings surrounding the courtyard.
Homicide detectives arrived at the apartment, started an investigation, and spoke to several witnesses, Foley says.
Police have not shared the names of any possible suspects. No arrests have been made.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name after his family members have been notified.

Officers detained two people following the shooting, but their roles, if any, are unclear, Lt. Foley says.
Both shootings remain under investigation. No arrests have been made and IMPD did not share the names of any possible suspects.
