The Flying Cupcake offers reward in burglary case

UPDATE: In a Facebook post on Nov. 26, The Flying Cupcake provided an update on the description of the suspect. The company posted the following message:

“Update on the burglary at our Mass Ave location Friday morning as we continue to ask for your help if you know anything or saw anything:

* Suspect is 5’5”-5’6” tall

“* wears glasses (wearing them in the video)

“* wore an oversized overcoat or winter coat

“* possibly a female (wearing a larger sized overcoat/long coat) or a smaller framed male

‘* possibly 115-145 lbs

“* Entered via the back gated residential courtyard (gate by dumpster left open:/) off of East VERMONT STREET in between New Jersey Street and Mass Ave between 3:30-3:50AM early Friday morning (11/24)

“* any additional surveillance footage from VERMONT street or New Jersey street in this area would be very helpful

“* we believe that the case can be “cracked” with the help of the public more than anything

‘* if you saw anything or anyone on Friday morning between 3:30am-3:55am on Vermont st near Needler’s Fresh Market or on New Jersey or Mass Ave in the 300 or 400 block and/or have video surveillance- please share it! Person might have walked but most likely parked their vehicle on Vermont or New Jersey during this time frame Friday am.

* very quiet morning due to the Thanksgiving holiday so anyone in the area at this time would standout (bars closed etc)

Local news media picked up on our social media post and have shared the surveillance video of the robbery. We are offering a $500.00 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest (bakery@theflyingcupcakebakery.com) or anonymously via CrimeStoppers (crimetips.org).

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indiana bakery is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest after a break-in Friday morning.

The Flying Cupcake on Friday night posted a video on Facebook showing a person in a mask and hoodie stealing items from the bakery’s downtown Indianapolis location.

In the post, the company said, “Hello! This morning at 3:45 am the person in this video broke into our Mass Ave downtown Indy location and stole a computer and other items. Police dusted for prints and are accessing additional camera footage so may have more video to share soon. We are offering a $500.00 reward for information which leads to the arrest of this person. Please email bakery@theflyingcupcakebakery.com if you recognize this person or have any information your willing to share. Height 5’5” to 5’6” and looks to be wearing glasses…we think a female. Thank you!”

The Flying Cupcake has been open since 2007, and also has locations in Castleton, Greenwood, and Carmel.
