Man dead after family dispute leads to shooting

Latest: The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the who man who died as 43-year-old Matthew Kelley.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man is dead after a shooting on the city’s west side on Saturday evening.

Investigators did not immediately release the identity of the victim.

Around 7:00 p.m. Saturday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of Lansdowne Road on a report of a person shot. That is a residential area on the west side of Indianapolis.

When officers arrived, they found a man in critical condition suffering from gunshot wounds.

At 8:10 p.m. Saturday, IMPD said the man was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the shooting may been the result of a family dispute. IMPD detained one person connected to the incident, but they were later released.
