INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department battled a residence fire on the city’s northeast side on Friday evening.

Around 5:33 Friday, firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department were dispatched to a residence in the 8000 block of Heyward Drive on a report of a residence fire. After arriving to the location, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire pushing from the residence. Firefighters brought the fire under control in 50 minutes with no injuries. A family of four was evacuated from the residence during the incident.

Fire investigators believe an electrical issue might have caused the fire. The occupants of the residence told investigators they smelled smoke before evacuating the building. The four occupants of the home and four neighbors were checked by medics and released without injuries.
