1 killed in I-465 crash involving car and semi

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One person is dead following a Monday evening crash on I-465 involving a car and a semi, according to the Indiana State Police.

ISP says the crash occurred on I-465 SB south of Crawfordsville Road just before 11:30 p.m.

After arriving on scene, officers found that a car had rear-ended a semi. 

The driver of the passenger car was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

An investigation into the crash has revealed that the semi was stopped, due to a traffic back-up and lane closure caused by an earlier, multi-vehicle crash earlier Monday evening. The passenger car then struck the back of the semi traveling at a high rate of speed.

Names of those involved in the crash have not been released.
