Severe weather possible for Friday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Severe weather is possible for Friday along with storm chances continuing for the next several days. 

TONIGHT: We look to remain pleasant leading into the overnight. However, there is a chance for scattered showers and storms during the overnight hours leading into daybreak. Severe weather is not expected with this wave. 

Lows will slip into the upper 60s. 

FRIDAY: We will see two rounds of showers and storms. The first wave will come in during the early morning hours.

As we enter into the afternoon hours, the second wave wil come in, and has the chance to produce severe weather. An enhanced risk of severe weather is possible in Southern Indiana while central Indiana will be under a slight risk of severe weather. Main threats will be damaging winds, very large hail, and a couple of tornadoes. Heavy rainfall is likely as well. 

TIMING: Potential for strong storms should start by early to mid afternoon, and winding down by early to mid evening. In addition, severe threat will be very dependent on how quickly the atmosphere can recharge after the morning storms. If clouds can break by late morning into the afternoon, there should be enough “juice” to help aid in the development of severe storms. If clouds hang on through much of the day, severe storms will be more limited.

Highs will rise into the low 80s.

WEEKEND: We look to have scattered storm chances throughout the weekend, and humidity values look to remain high. Despite the higher humidity values, our high temperatures will only be in the upper 70s, something we haven’t seen since the end of June. It should be added, that rain chances will be scattered, so both weekend days will not be a washout.

8 DAY FORECAST: As we enter the new workweek, high temperatures look to return to the low to mid 80s. Isolated storm chances will be possible from Monday through Wednesday. Temperatures look to slip into the upper 70s by the end of the week.
