Strategizing with the Fever for an historic draft night

It’s set to be a historical draft night for the Indiana Fever Thursday night, selecting with the No. 2, No. 8 and No. 14 overall selections!

Never before have the Fever drafted twice in the first eight picks, or three times in the first 14. Due in part to its recent WNBA-record 12 consecutive years in the playoffs, Indiana is the only team in league history to endure more than a decade without a top-four draft pick.

The owner of two top-eight selections on Thursday, Indiana has enjoyed top-eight draft picks just five times through its 18-year draft history.

Julie Graue, Chief Operating Officer, Indiana Fever, tells us more!

WHAT

The Indiana Fever own two of the first eight selections, and three of the first 14, in the 2018 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm which takes place Thursday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. (First round airs live on ESPN2; second and third rounds on ESPNU).

The 2018 draft is historic for the Fever who are the only WNBA team ever to endure more than a decade without a top-four pick. In the Fever’s 18-year history, Indiana has had only five top-eight draft picks – Thursday they will have two; plus a third pick at No. 14. [Indiana’s final selection will likely be made approximately 8:00 p.m.]

Draft coverage is split between the Fever draft room and a Fever Draft Party at Brothers Bar & Grill.

Following the WNBA Draft on April 12, the Fever open training camp Sunday, April 29.
