TV station mourns loss of meteorologist
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Detroit-area news station is mourning the loss of a meteorologist who took her own life Wednesday evening.
FOX affiliate WJBK announced the death of Jessica Starr during their morning news program on Thursday.
“All of us here at FOX 2 are in deep shock and cannot believe that such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us,” the news station wrote in an online statement.
The Detroit Free Press reports Starr was a Michigan native who earned meteorology degrees from Michigan State University and Mississippi State University.
She came to Fox 2 after covering weather for WLNS-TV in Lansing and WBFF-TV in Baltimore.
In November, Starr had expressed frustration over her recovery from Lasik surgery, the newspaper reported.
Update; yesterday was a struggle for me. I really wanted to come back but I need more time to recover. Please keep me in your thoughts during this challenging time. Will keep you updated. ??— Jessica Starr (@Jstarrfox2) November 14, 2018
