Crews working to take down, restore WWI statue in Henry Co.

HENRY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Crews are working to take down an iconic WWI statute in Henry County.

The “Spirit of the American Doughboy” statue will be coming down Tuesday. It’s coming down as part of a plan to restore it and re-dedicate it in honor of the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI next year.

The statue has been in its current location since 1929. The statue will eventually be relocated to what will become the front of a new military museum.
