INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) –Here’s a look at Tuesday’s business headlines with Jane King.

INDIANPOLIS AMONG THE MOST ROBUST HOUSING MARKETS IN THE MIDWEST.
The local median income in Indianapolis is 62-thousand 300 dollars and the percentage of for-sale homes that are affordable is 84 percent. There are a number of major metro cities with an ample supply of affordable homes, led by St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio rounding out the top-3.
Many of the top cities were hit hard by the decline in manufacturing but are now making a comeback.

ANOTHER RETAILER BITES THE DUST.
Retailer Charlotte Russe announced it has filed for bankruptcy and will close 94 stores.
Sales have plunged in recent years, and the chain plans to completely liquidate if it can’t find a buyer by February 17th. The location in Hobart will close as part of this move.

NASCAR IS SHAKING THINGS UP AFTER YEARS OF DECLINING VIEWERSHIP.
One change is to slow the cars down so they are bunched closer together and make races more competitive. NASCAR will continue to promote its rising young talent.

BUD LIGHT MAKING AMENDS WITH THE NATIONAL CORN GROWERS ASSOCIATION.
The beer giant aired commercials with the slogan “brewed with no corn syrup” during Sunday’s Super Bowl critical of other beer makers that use corn syrup in their brewing processes, prompting protests from corn growers.
A representative of the beer giant emailed the corn farmers’ group late Sunday “looking to make it right” and asking for a meeting with farmers.

U.S. STOCKS CLOSED HIGHER MONDAY, WITH THE NASDAQ DOING MUCH OF THE HEAVY LIFTING.
Investors looked ahead to another week of high-profile earnings and developments in U.S.-China trade talks.  The dow rose 174 points.
 

VALENTINES DAY SPENDING
Americans plan to spend more than their significant others expect them to for Valentine’s Day and men plan to spend almost two and a half times what their significant others expect from them. The Lending Tree survey found men plan to spend an average of $95 for Valentine’s Day – more than double the $41 that women plan to spend, on average. Those who are engaged plan to spend the most on average, at $92. People in the dating stage plan to spend $88, and married people plan on spending $57.  41 percent are looking forward to Valentine’s Day, another 5 percent are dreading it, but most don’t care one way or the other
