FDIC conference displays new safety gadgets for firefighters

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -Friday marked the final two days of one of Indy’s largest conventions of the year: The 2016 Fire Department Instructors Conference.

There is a lot going on all week for firefighters who traveled across the country to Indianapolis for this annual event.

Most of the events and products featured at the convention center are to keep firefighters safe. There are a lot of new and exciting products for departments to use on the job and for training.

More than 30,000 firefighters showed up to the conference this year.

The conference utilizes a combination of classroom lectures and speakers as well as hands on training at different sites in Indianapolis.

Classroom speakers talk about everything from elevator emergencies to roadside procedures. One of the best parts of the conference are all the new gadgets available to department leaders to try and to test and with more than 800 exhibitors there is a lot to try.

One new tool that debuted at the FDIC is a Thermal Imaging Camera from BullEx that is used in conjunction with LED fire panels.

The conference continues Friday and Saturday at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
