Lawson names Glass as Indiana’s next securities commissioner
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson has announced deputy securities commissioner Alex Glass will become the agency’s the new commissioner.
He replaces Carol Mihalik, who resigned abruptly last month.
Glass will lead the secretary of state’s effort to regulate state securities, which includes enforcing Indiana’s securities laws against white collar criminals and protecting Indiana residents’ savings by promoting financial education.
Glass joined the Secretary of State’s Office in 2010 and has served in multiple positions, including implementing its crowdfunding initiative, pursuing securities law violators and upgrading the Securities Division’s technology systems. He’s also been responsible for suspending the licenses of securities professionals who fail to pay child support.
The Fort Wayne native will be sworn in Wednesday.
