Purdue gets ready for Cincy
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WISH) — The Purdue Boilermakers will battle their state-neighbor, the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Second Round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday.
Purdue finished the season with a 21- 12 record. The Boilers are playing in the competitive Midwest region with their first games being held in Louisville.
If Purdue does take down the Bearcats, they can potentially take on the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats in the second round.
Purdue Head Basketball Coach Matt Painter knows the Bearcats have a lot of talent, but his main focus is making sure his team takes care of its business.
“I think the more you go through it you have to get a grip on who you are playing but you better have a grip on your own team. And make sure you dominate the things that you can control, you know, running, rebounding, defending,” said Painter. “Those things are just so important in just getting your guys ready to play but you have to understand your personnel.”
Purdue vs. Cincinnati is Thursday at 7:10 p.m.
