Text to 911 helps police make arrest
BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A text to 911 helped police make an arrest in Bartholomew County.
24-Hour News 8 first told you about the success of the text to 911 program in Bartholomew County last week.
Days after the story ran, officials say a 911 call came in, with only background noise – the sounds of a disturbance. They said it sounded like the caller couldn’t be seen calling for help.
Officials dispatched police to the scene using GPS technology, and moments later, a caller texted for help via 911.
Deputies already on scene were able to contact the caller and figure out exactly what was happening.
Police say they were able to arrest a man for domestic violence and criminal confinement.
