Billboards could soon track your travel, behavior
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – If you drive by a billboard in the next few months there’s a good chance the company that owns it will know you were there – and what you did afterward.
According to The New York Times, Clear Channel Outdoor Americas will announce Monday that it’s partnered with several companies, including AT&T, to track people’s travel patterns and behaviors.
It would be done through mobile phones. Clear Channel would provide advertisers with information about the people who pass the billboards so that they could plan more targeted campaigns. The data could determine if a person who passed by a billboard for a store subsequently went to that store afterward.
There are a Clear Channel billboards around central Indiana. How do you feel about this?
