Tech trends: Samsung unveils new Android Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Two new Android phones are getting a lot of buzz for some innovative new features.
They were just unveiled, and they will hit the market in a couple weeks.
But Tech Trends reporter Gabe Slate got his hands on them to give you a sneak peak. Both phones are water resistant.
Gabe poured a bottle of water on the phone. It was not affected.
Then, Gabe put one of the phones in a water fountain. Again, it was not affected. It worked just fine once it was taken out.
Samsung added microSD card slots to the S7 series so users can expand the storage on their phone up to 200 gigs. This is a feature that was missing in the last S6 series and something that has never been available on the iPhone.
The S7s have a cool new ‘Always On’ feature. When the phone is locked and in standby, instead of going completely dark, you can have the display feature, a clock, a calendar, or a picture. You can customize it.
The camera on these phones has been improved from the S6 series. They will perform better under low-light situations and the auto focus works a lot faster.
The Galaxy S7 takes the traditional square flat boxy shape. It’s 5.1 inches.
The Galaxy S7 edge has a bigger screen at 5.5 inches and features the sleek looking curved edges.
The display screen continues over the edges. It gives a little more display room to work with which you can do some cool things with.
The edge space can be used to display sports scores, or it can be a news ticker, or stock ticker.
These new Samsung Android phones hit the market March 11.
If you order one of these new phones by March 18, Samsung will give you a free gear VR headset to play virtual reality games with.
That’s a $100 value.
The S7 and S7 Edge come in black, silver, and gold.
