Indiana Rubio campaign picks up endorsements

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Jeb Bush had more big name backing in Indiana than any other Republican running for President.

And with Bush now out of the race, Marco Rubio appears to be the biggest winner.

The Indiana Rubio campaign is planning a big announcement in a week or so. The purpose is to spell out a number of key endorsements.

“Since Jeb Bush got out of it, really, not just even elected officials and party officials, but people who want to volunteer are calling,” said Indiana Rubio co-chair Tom John. “Saying how do we get involved, we want to be part of Marco Rubio’s movement.”

But there are elected officials getting on the Rubio bandwagon, too. State Representative Bob Behning was a Bush supporter who has now endorsed Rubio.

“Trump is, um, I think he does more to divide than bring together,” said Behning.

Marion County GOP Chair Jennifer Ping was a Carly Fiorina volunteer. She’s also endorsed Rubio.

“Rubio can be the one that can bring people together,” she said. “This is not about electing just Republicans. This is about being someone who’s elected to serve all of our nation.”

Trump, meantime, is focused on Ted Cruz.

“This guy Cruz lies more than any human being I’ve ever dealt with,” he said at a Tuesday rally.

That will change if Marco Rubio’s momentum grows.
