St. Vincent Indianapolis’ trauma center gets major title

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Officials at St. Vincent Indianapolis made a big announcement about the hospital Wednesday morning.

St. Vincent’s trauma center has been verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level I Trauma Center, according to a release. This means the hospital is able to provided the highest level of care for patients with the most serious injuries.

Health officials say the hospital is now the third verified adult Level I Trauma Center in Indiana, and the only trauma center on the north side of Indianapolis.

The trauma center at St. Vincent Indianapolis is the state’s second busiest. Because of St. Vincent StatFlight, patients from across the region can rapidly receive care at the hospital.
