2 employees shot during attempted robbery at Lawrence restaurant
LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Two restaurant employees were shot and injured Saturday night during an attempted robbery of a Korean restaurant on Pendleton Pike in Lawrence.
Around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, three male suspects wearing masks entered Bando Korean Restaurant, 8015 Pendleton Pike, through a back entrance with the intent to rob the business. The restaurant is located in the Pendleton Pike Shoppes shopping center, just east of Franklin Road. In the course of the attempted robbery, police believe the attempted robbery suspects shot two employees, according to Lawrence Police Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff.
Those two people, whose ages and identities were not provided, were taken to area hospitals with injuries to the lower extremities that did not appear to be life-threatening, Woodruff said.
The suspects never entered the restaurant’s dining area and left the way they came in, through the back entrance. It was not known how many of the suspects were armed, Woodruff said.
Police secured a perimeter and attempted to use a police dog to find the suspects, but the rain hampered the effort, Woodruff said.
