Sisters Standing Together raises awareness for suicide, bullying

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A central Indiana organization wants people to know they are not alone.

Sisters Standing Together held an event Saturday to raise awareness about the effects of bullying.

People gathered at the Watkins Park Community Center to better understand the correlation between bullying and suicide.

A major topic at the event was suicide prevention for children, which organizers said is a conversation that should’ve already happened.

“We have to come together with the schools and city leaders to say these are things they need to do because what we did is what we should’ve been doing long ago and there would probably be 1,000 of those kids still alive,” said Callie Sanders, with Sisters Standing Together.

They hope the event brings reasonable solutions that can be implemented throughout communities.
