(Inside INdiana Business) — An annual study from SmartAsset has listed the top 10 most affordable places to live in Indiana. The financial technology firm says several factors were measured to determine the ranking, including taxes, homeowners’ insurance and home costs relative to the local median income.

SmartAsset says the places where homeownership costs were lowest relative to the median income in each location were considered the most affordable. The firm says it also considered closing costs, real estate taxes, homeowners insurance and mortgage rates in the study.

Alexandria and New Whiteland top the list for the most affordable Hoosier communities. Both communities are also included in the top 10 rankings for the most affordable places to live in the country, ranked at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.

The remainder of the top 10 rankings for Indiana includes:

  • Hartford City (Blackford County)
  • Elwood (Madison County)
  • North Manchester (Wabash County)
