Fund to send $1.5M to Marion County schools for laptops, iPads, internet access

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Marion County districts and charter schools are getting financial help to bring devices and internet for e-learning.

The Indianapolis E-learning Fund is sending $1.5 million to help public and charter schools.

Teachers in Marion County say the biggest obstacle in e-learning is a lack of devices including laptops or iPads and the internet.

The money will be distributed to districts and schools based on amount of students and how many of them are on free and reduced-cost lunches.

The remaining contributions in the fund will be directed toward longer-term investments and resources for schools engaging in e-learning and remote learning statewide.

E-learning increased exponentially in Indiana with the shutdown of schools due to COVID-19.
