Noblesville plans parade, concert, more for Fourth of July Fireworks Festival

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Noblesville officials announced Thursday their plans for the 2020 Fourth of July Fireworks Festival.

City officials say they are preparing for a “spectacular” festival that will include a parade, a free Fireworks Festival and a fireworks show.

“We are optimistically continuing to make preparations for the Noblesville Fourth of July Fireworks Festival and Parade. Our hope is that we can host our annual festival and celebrate together as a community,” Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen said in a news release. “The event’s offerings may be a little different this year as we make changes to follow CDC guidelines and best practices from health officials, but our committee is developing some creative ideas to balance safety and recreational goals.”

The planning committee for the holiday event is working with health officials and city leadership throughout Gov. Eric Holcomb’s reopening plan for the state in order to keep patrons safe. The holiday lines up with Holcomb’s Back on Track plan to reopen the state, and Noblesville is the first to officially say they’re celebrating.

“Excited!” Cheyrl Hobson said. “It’s wonderful. We need all the pageantry of July Fourth. We definitely need that. I believe it.”

American flags lined the square in downtown Noblesville Thursday as if in anticipation for the big day. One of those flags sits outside of Yankee Trader Firework Shop which is already open for business.

“Oh, it’s definitely a big holiday,” Yankee Trader Owner James Pompi said. “One of my favorites out there.”

While his shop isn’t involved with the festival, Pompi says some of the big fireworks have been going quick. He says he understands why so many people are looking to find a reason to celebrate.

“Especially after the COVID-19,” Pompi said. “After being cooped up in our homes, people really want to get out there. People want to get out there and have a good time.”

The annual Stars & Stripes Forever Fourth of July Parade will kick off the festivities on July 4 at 4:30 p.m. This year front line workers will serve as the parade’s grand marshals. Registration to be involved in the parade is $25. The deadline for entry submission is June 29. If you would like to register, you can find a form online.

A free Fireworks Festival will be after the parade from 6-10 p.m. at Forest Park. Playgrounds, shelters, shade and other festival items will be available for guests to enjoy. A concert by “Boy Band Review” will also be a part of the festivities.

A fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m.

City officials have also added VIP tables as an option for families to purchase this year.

More announcements regarding the festival are expected to be announced soon.
