Big Ten Championship spurs service projects across Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Fan festivities kick off Friday for the Big Ten Championship game. Penn State will take on Wisconsin Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium, but first several service projects will take place in coordination with the game.
Indiana Sports Corp and Allstate will be repainting walls and deep cleaning the building at Bethel Park Friday morning. They will also be updating equipment and replacing old furniture with new pieces. It’s a total of $10,000 in improvements, which makes a big difference for the parks department and the city of Indianapolis.
“Unfortunately, there aren’t always enough resources for us to do everything we need to do, so these corporate volunteer groups and philanthropic interests that help move parks forward are always really valued for us,” Indy Parks director Linda Broadfoot said.
Work at Bethel Park begins at 10 a.m. on Friday.
If you want to get involved and help the community this weekend, Indiana Sports Corp is hosting SaturDAY of Service. It will be at the Indiana Convention Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Volunteers will be wrapping donated sports equipment to be distributed for the holidays. You do need to register to take part.
