One dead following double shooting on near northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person is dead following a near northeast side shooting early Sunday morning.

IMPD responded to a report of shots fired at 6:15 a.m. in the area of 30th Street and Eastern Avenue. When officers arrived, they found two people shot inside a home at the corner of the intersection.

Medics pronounced an adult man dead at the scene. An elderly woman was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. IMPD said she was stable, alert and talking to medics. Officers told 24-Hour News 8 the elderly woman was the person who called 911.

IMPD said there were no other people inside the home when they arrived. Investigators are talking to witnesses but have not released any suspect information or any details about what may have led up to the shooting.

Several people started to gather in front of the home on Sunday morning. A man told 24-Hour News 8 his mother and brother lived in the home. Police have not  yet released the victims identities.24-Hour News 8 currently has a crew at the scene.
